We’re busy at Dundalk tonight with eight runners and it’s a track that we have a good record at and we start off with Platinum Warrior in the mile two year old maiden.
He is a nice Galileo colt, which ran a solid race on his debut in what looked a good maiden at The Curragh in August. I think he’ll appreciate the surface, but he is drawn out wide in 11 which won’t make it easy for him, but he is working nicely and he has improved for his first run.
We also run Pienta in the same race and he is making his debut. He goes well at home, but like all of ours, he will improve for the experience.
Invincible Ryker has to have his chance in the seven furlong maiden. He bumped into a smart filly of Jim Bolger’s when second the last day at Fairyhouse. He is a good, solid horse and despite his poor draw, I’d like to think that he has his chance.
We run Storm Ryker in the first division of the seven furlong handicap and he is a horse that we like.
He has had just the two career starts to date and he is a horse that I think will appreciate the surface, but he hasn’t run since June, so I’d say he will come on a good deal for this outing.
We run Betty Loch and Cloudy Miss in the second division of the seven furlong handicap and both come into the race in good form.
Betty Loch is a course and distance winner and she has been running well all season and Cloudy Miss won her handicap at Bellewstown earlier in the season and she is another that has been running consistently well since – you can put a line through her run the last day, as she had a very poor draw at Leopardstown.
We run both Dayereh and Hope Lake in the mile and a quarter maiden. They are both in good form, but it looks a competitive race. They are well bred fillies and it would be great if we could get a winning bracket for them between now and the end of the year.
Alashtar will start off his career in the mile maiden at Naas tomorrow. I’m keen to get him started and he will improve a lot for this outing. He is a horse that we like, but he has been drawn out very wide which will make things pretty difficult for him.
On Friday, we’ll run Smugglers Creek in the seven furlong maiden and he is in very good form and he has improved for his run the last day and with a bit of luck, he might get his head in front.
We run both Hunaina and Surrounding in the fillies handicap and the pair of them will appreciate the surface and they are in very good form.
Credit is due to HRI and Dundalk for putting on such a good race at this time of the year for fillies only.
Surrounding was second in the Cambridgeshire at The Curragh on her last start and she is owned and bred by the Newell family and the plan is to try and get some black type for her and after Friday, she’ll come back to for a listed race at Dundalk in a few weeks’ time.
Riyazan will take his chance in the listed Star Appeal Stakes and he has developed into a good horse for us. He will appreciate the drop in class on Friday and I’m pretty sure that he’ll handle the surface.
He brings a good level of form into the race and if he gets a bit of luck with his draw, he should be capable of running a big race.
