We have just the two runners tonight at Dundalk and both are capable of running big races and have their chances.
Luna’s Luck ran a promising race the last day over seven and I think he’ll be okay over six, as he showed plenty of pace the last day. He is drawn out wide, but he should be alright as the draw isn’t as important in maidens.
Ideally you’d prefer a better draw, but he should be okay and I’ve been happy with him all week and he should be competitive.
Storm Ryker takes his chance in the in the apprentice handicap and he has a nice draw and should run a good race. He ran well up there the last day, but he got upset behind the stalls, which didn’t help him and we’ve had him in a hood all week and that appears to have been an asset to him and he’ll wear it again tonight.
He is a course winner and he seems to be in very good form and he took his last run well. I’d say seven is his trip and with the benefit of that run under his belt, he should give a very good account of himself.
Rehana is in her way home from Dubai and having discussed the matter with Pat Downes, it has been decided that she will be retired and she’ll be covered when we get her home.
She was a wonderful servant to us and was a pleasure to have anything to do with. She was unfortunate that she didn’t have her ground for a good bit of last year, but on her day, she was a very consistent, classy filly when she had her favoured fast ground.
Riyazan is also coming home from Dubai and he didn’t run over there, as he got a touch of travel sickness on the way over.
He spiked a temperature and by the time all was fine again with him, we were up against it time wise to race him over there, so we made a call to bring home and hopefully he’ll develop into a nice horse for us during the summer.
