Ronan and I travelled over to Dubai last night – we arrived here this morning, as we run both Surrounding and Simsir later today.

The horses look fantastic and the lads over here have done a fantastic job and the horses are thriving over here.

Massif Central has come out of his run last week in great shape and we’ll find something similar for him shortly.

Everyone over here has been very accommodating and we are looking forward to tonight and hopefully both horses will represent us well and my thoughts on them are below.

4.50 Surrounding (Ronan Whelan)

She was found to be in season after she ran a rare below par race in the Cape Verdi here the last day and I saw her this morning and she appears to be in great form. She has plenty of weight and a wide draw which is far from ideal over here. You can put a line through her last run and hopefully she’ll get the breaks. Ronan knows her well and while there are some unexposed types in the line up, she is a proven stakes performer and if she manages to get a bit of luck in running, she’ll run a big race.

6.00 Simsir (Ronan Whelan)

We were delighted with him the last day and I thought it was a very good run to finish second to a seasoned handicapper on just his second start in a handicap. He has a better draw today (1) and a mile and a quarter is a good trip for him. He has a lot of things in his favour and if he gets a good run around, I’d be expecting him to fight it out. He’s in great form and I saw him here this morning and he looks super and he’s a credit to the lads over here.
