We are back with a couple of runners at Dundalk tonight and my thoughts on them are below.

Both Surrounding and Simsir ran well in Dubai last night. Simsir was denied a clear run in the straight in the mile and a quarter handicap, but he finished out his race well and I was thrilled with Surrounding who ran well, when fourth under top weight in the seven furlong handicap.

There were positives to be taken from the night and we’ll chat to connections of both horses (and Massif Central) and make a plan for all of them, but all three have proved that they will be competitive over there.

5.30  Lady De Vesci (Ronan Whelan)

She is a three time course and distance winner and she is in good form and this looks a good race for her. A mile and a quarter is ideal for her and she has a very good draw. She is well suited by the race conditions and I am looking forward to a big run from her.

7.00  Maziyda (Ronan Whelan)

She has been a bit slow to come to hand, but she has been pleasing us in her work. She shows a good attitude and she holds an entry in the Goffs Sale. Joseph’s horse Mr Mooj had a good first run and of those that have run, he sets the standard. Our filly will improve for her first start, but in saying that, I’d expect her to run a good race.
