Friday for us means Dundalk and we had a great night up there this day last week, with three winners and two seconds. It’s great when everything comes together like that and it wasn’t a complete surprise that they all ran well and results like that give everyone in the yard and our owners, a great boost.

We don’t have a big team for Dundalk, but the horses that we’ve put by for the winter, should be competitive for the remainder of the campaign. We send three up there tonight and my thoughts on them are below.

5.45 Lady De Vesci (Ronan Whelan)

She loves Dundalk and won three up there last winter. She has struggled a bit recently, but she seems to have come forward in her work and I’d be surprised if she didn’t run a big race up there tonight. She has a bit to do ratings wise with a few of her opponents, but she is capable of running very well in a race like this.

6.45 Haifa (Ronan Whelan)

She’s a nice filly and she has stepped forward in her work since her first run. She’ll appreciate the step up to a mile and while the draw could have been kinder to her, I am expecting a good run from her and I think she can outrun her odds. Like all of ours, she has improved for her first start.

7.15 Karbasann (Ronan Whelan)

He had a lovely run the first day and he has improved for that and he is another that will appreciate the step up in trip to a mile. This looks the stronger of the two divisions, but his homework has been very solid and he looks capable of a good run. He has good draw and he proved the last day that he handles the surface.
