Russian Soul was the beneficiary of a well judged Shane Foley ride at Meydan coming from off the pace to land the Group Three Al Shindagha Sprint for Michael Halford.

Sent off at odds of 15-2, Foley sent the six-year-old into the lead just over a furlong from the finish and stayed on strongly to deny fellow Irish raider Jamesie by a length.

Russian Soul is owned by the Kavanagh family, whose purple and pink silks have been long associated with the trainer.

“It was a very good performance from a wide draw and carrying a kilo more than the others,” Halford said.

“He’s as tough as nails, he improves with his racing and he is certainly going the right way.

“He’ll run on Super Saturday and then he’ll go for the Golden Shaheen.”
