We are back with four runners at The Curragh on Saturday which includes Ridenza in the 1,000 Guineas and my thoughts on them are below.

5.10 Kalayena (Ronan Whelan)

She is a lovely big filly. She is still quite raw, but the trip and ground should be ideal for her. I am looking forward to getting her started and I’d imagine that she will improve for her first start. She has pleased me at home and while her draw isn’t ideal, I expect her to run a nice race.

6.15 War Diary (Ronan Whelan)

He will be having his first start for us and he won this race last year. He is in good form and we are still learning about him and I’d imagine that he will improve for today’s outing. The ground and trip will be fine for him and he has been doing everything nicely at home and while it looks a competitive contest, I am hoping that he’ll run a good race.

7.15 Ridenza (Ronan Whelan)

She’s a beautifully bred filly and she won her only start last year, but she picked up an injury on the day. She has recovered well and in an ideal world, you’d have loved to have another run into her. But her preparations have gone very well, and we like her a lot. She has a reasonable draw and the track and ground will be fine for her. We’ll just have to see how good she is and we will learn a good deal more about her tomorrow. I think she is a filly with a bright future.

7.45 Hamariyna (Ronan Whelan)

She ran a very good race at Naas in March when second to a filly of Ger’s. She carried a big weight that day and she has come out of that race in good form. Magic Wand sets the standard and should be hard to beat, but our filly comes into today’s race in very good form. She will appreciate any rain that arrives and on ratings, she should give a good account of herself.
