We were delighted with Surrounding’s win in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Brownstown Stakes (Group 3) at Fairyhouse on July 14th.  She has been a wonderful servant and continues to improve with her racing.  She has come out of her race well and we may let her take her chance in the Group 2 Paddy Power Minstrel Stakes at the Curragh at the weekend.

We have 4 runners today starting at Killarney with Defining Battle.

8.30  DEFINING BATTLE (Conor Hoban)

Defining Battle did well to win his maiden over one mile at Listowel.  He has come forward well since and I think he will appreciate going the extra distance of one mile three furlongs today.  Taking on three-year-olds only is a help and the Frankie Dettori ridden Finding Nero would look the likely favourite.  However, I would be disappointed if our horse does not run a big race as we like him a lot.

FAIRYHOUSE

7.45  DILLYGASS (Adam J Farragher)

Dilllygass has been struggling to get a good draw.  Her homework would suggest that she is capable of winning a handicap of this calibre, conditions and trip should suit.  She will need luck however from her wide draw.

8.15  AHLAN BIL ZAIN (Ben Coen)  & KATIYMANN (Ronan Whelan)

We are doubly represented in The Irish Injured Jockeys Handicap.  Ahlan Bil Zain has top weight with 9.10 and we are claiming a valuable 5lbs with Ben Coen.  He is will drawn and has been running really well of late.  He would look like having a favourite’s chance, seven furlongs on good ground looks ideal for him.

Katiymann is coming back from a break and he had some wind surgery.  While he has been pleasing us in his work, you would think he would be better for a run.  He has however shown some good form when fresh in the past.
