We are back racing at the Carnival in Dubai tonight when Massif Central takes his chance in a valuable handicap and my thoughts on him are below.
In the meantime, reflecting back on this day last week, we were disappointed with Surrounding in the Cape Verdi. I sensed beforehand when I was saddling her, that was a bit quiet in herself and post race blood tests, have revealed that she was in season.
She will have an entry in a seven furlong handicap next Thursday and assuming I am happy with her, there is a good chance that she will line up in that.
I was thrilled with Simsir when he finished second in what was only his second ever race on turf in a very competitive handicap.
He just took a while to hit top gear, but he finished out his race very well. Based on that run, he should get further, but I am in no rush to step him up to a mile and a half and he’ll go for a 95-105 handicap next Thursday.
He didn’t get the clearest of runs early in the straight, but he has loads of size and scope and there should be more to come from him. He has come out of that run really well.
Massif Central (Tadhg O’Shea)
He has been in great form since he arrived and he gets the mile and a half well and I am looking forward to getting him started. He will love the good ground, and he has thrived since over there. He has a good draw in 4 and the lads over there tell me, that he is in super form. Given the way Simsir ran last week, you’d be happy that the horses are in good form. He hasn’t enough weight for Ronan, so Tadhg will ride him for us.
