We have a busy weekend with 7 runners at the Curragh this weekend. We have 3 today and 4 tomorrow.

4.15 Kalaroun (Ronan Whelan)

Kalaroun is a nice colt by Star Spangled Banner. He’s been pleasing us in his work and we’re looking forward to getting him started. The track and ground should be ideal for him. This looks a competitive race, but I expect a good show from him.

5.15 Lord Park (Adam Farragher)

Lord Park is taking on handicap company and stepping up to 10 furlongs for the first time. Adam Farragher claims a valuable 7 pounds off his back. We should learn plenty from this run, in what looks a very competitive race.

5.45 Surrounding (Ronan Whelan)

Surrounding is running in the Group 2 Minstrel Stakes. She is certainly one of the yard favourites and doesn’t know what it is to run a poor race. On ratings she has it all to do, but if she could finish in the first 3 we would be delighted.

We have 4 fillies running at the curragh tomorrow, Sunday.

2.35 Arletta Star (Adam Farragher)

Arletta Star ran well for us in her first run at Naas recently. This is a big step up in class for her, but with a light weight with 7 pounds off her back we are more than happy to let her take her chance for this very good pot.

2.35 Orchid Gardens (Rory Cleary)

Orchid Gardens had no luck in running last time when finishing 4th at Derby weekend in a fillies handicap. She’s been pleasing me in her work and she has a good draw. She should give Rory Cleary a very good ride.

4.15 Ridenza (Ronan Whelan)

Ridenza takes her chance in the Group 2 Kilboy Estate Stakes. I was delighted with her first run of the year when she finished 3rd in the Derrinstown Stud Filles Stakes Group 3 in Leopardstown. She has come forward well from that run and I don’t think the step up to 9 furlongs will bother her. I’m looking forward to a big run from her.

5.15 Going Global (Ronan Whelan)

She made a very promising start when 4th in Limerick recently and has come forward well in her work since then. She is drawn 3 of 16 and we are looking forward to running her. This series of races is a great opportunity for horses like her to race for good prize money and against similarly valued animals. She’s the first horse we’ve had for Pioneer Racing and we’re looking forward to a big run from her.
