Busy Night at Dundalk

Our horses remain in good form and following on from our four timer at Dundalk two weeks ago, it was good to see Cockalorum get his head in front at Leopardstown last weekend. He deserved that success – it was just unfortunate that he beat another one of ours in Pienta, but they are both smashing horses and they will head off to the sales shortly. (Cockalorum goes to Goffs & Pienta to Tatts Newmarket)

We have some lovely two-year olds to run and it’s unfortunate that the grass season is coming to an end, but it was encouraging to see Sonaiyla run such a nice race on her debut at Naas last weekend and like all of ours, she will improve for that outing and you’d be hopeful that she will make into a lovely filly for next year.

Arcanears ran a cracker to finish second under a big weight at Navan on Wednesday. He remains a lightly raced horse that should do well in sprint handicaps for us next season.

We have seven runners at Dundalk tonight and we have four in the featured Listed Cooley Stakes.

Colin Keane rides Petticoat and she’ll race with a tongue-tie for the first time and we think that will help her. She worked in Dundalk recently and I was very happy with her. She has a good draw and I think she is capable of a big run.

Surrounding (S Foley) loves this surface and she was very brave when she won over seven furlongs the last day under a big weight. She’ll appreciate the step up to a mile and it would be a great to get some black type for her owner/breeders, the Newell family, who are great supporters of the yard.

SURROUNDING

Terzetto (N McCullagh) comes into the race in good form. She hasn’t run for a while, but she was a progressive filly for us this year and it will be interesting to see how she performs tonight. She is very genuine and has improved all year and this race will help us determine, whether she will remain in training next year.

Vivianite (K Manning) ran very well at Naas last Sunday – she was only collared close home and eventually finished fourth in the Garnet Stakes.  Ideally, you’d like an extra week with her, but she has been in good form since Naas and it would be very important to get some black type for her. She is also sales bound later on this year.

Earlier in the card, we run Magic Shuffle (S Foley), and he ran an encouraging race at Leopardstown last weekend. He’ll improve with racing and he has come on for his run last week and he should run a good race in the median auction maiden.

Kodianne (S Foley) ran a cracker last week when second at Gowran. She has come out of that race in good form. She has plenty of pace, so I am not concerned about the drop back to six for her and she has a good draw and I’d be expecting a big run from her.

Finally, we run Claregate Street (B Cohen) in the concluding ten-furlong handicap. She has been a little bit disappointing, but we have treated her back and we think that will help her return to form.

She has form around Dundalk and won up there earlier in the year. She is running off a nice mark and I think she’ll be competitive tonight. She is another that will head on to the sales later in the year at Goffs.
