Despite believing the Curragh should have closed while it was being developed, I’m looking forward to returning to racing there today as it is without doubt one of the finest racecourses in the world. I had an opportunity to see the first phase of the development last Friday and I must say how impressed I was. They have done wonderful work in tough weather conditions over a long winter.
We have 6 running today. Sagittarian Wind (Conor Hoban) in the opener is a lovely Iffraaj filly who will be the better for a run. She has shown promise at home and looks a future winner.
In the Auction maiden we run Lethal Turbo (Conor Hoban), a first runner for Hong Kong based Sammy Hon Hit Ma. He is a colt we like a lot and being by Lethal Force, he should be suited by the ease in the ground. He should run a good race and looks the sort to improve with racing. He has a great attitude and plenty of scope.
We run 2 in the 6 furlong maiden. Arcanears (Colm O’Donoghue) ran a good race in Navan first time out and has come forward since. I’m looking forward to a good run from him. Kodianne (Conor Hoban) is still a little immature but is ready to start. She will progress with racing.
Luna’s Luck (Ross Coakley)takes his chance in the 30 runner Apprentice race. I was pleased with his first run on turf in Leopardstown after some promising runs in Dundalk earlier in the year. He should run a good race.
Finally, we run Tauriel (Niall McCullagh) in the last, a 1 mile fillies maiden. She is not overly big but has a huge heart. She will benefit from the experience but has been showing promise at home. I’m looking forward to getting her started.
I will have an update on the runners for the weekend later today.
