We were delighted with Kalaxana’s performance in the Ulster Oaks last Saturday in Down Royal. She ran out a convincing 2 ¾ length winner. Her rating has now jumped to 94 and she is clearly progressing well. Her next run is likely to be the Lenabane Stakes (Listed Race) at Roscommon on July 9th.
While enjoying the great weather, it is increasing difficult with the quick ground. I think the racetracks are doing particularly well to keep the ground safe for us and I can only imagine how much work is involved.
We have 4 runners on tonight’s card at Naas. We start off in the 6pm with an unraced home bred 2-year-old Kodiac filly, Rathmoylan Cove (C Hoban). She has been pleasing us in her work and is ready to start.
She is a laid back filly and she will have no bother stepping up in trip in time. We are looking forward to getting her started and she is a filly with a future.
In the 6.30 we run the locally owned La Novia (C Hoban). She has put together some decent runs on the all-weather in the spring. She is off a good handicap mark and I would be disappointed if we don’t win a race with her.
We run 2 in the 9pm race, a H.H. Aga Khan owned Elusive City filly, Kerineya (C Hoban) is having her first run. She is a filly we quite like and we would expect her to improve plenty for her run and she will need safe ground.
I was pleased with Vivianite’s first run on grass at Leopardstown two weeks ago. She has come forward nicely in herself since then and despite the first two in the betting having decent form, I would be disappointed if Vivianite cannot get involved in the finish. Colm O’Donoghue rides her.
An exciting weekend looms ahead at the Curragh. All preparations are going well with Platinum Warrior to run in the Irish Derby and we will have an update on the weekend runners tomorrow.
